About this Opportunity:
South Ribble Scouts is looking for an organised, proactive and collaborative District Secretary to join our volunteer team. This is a crucial role at an important time for South Ribble Scouts. Supporting more than 1,700 young people and hundreds of volunteers, we're continuing to strengthen how we work across the District – improving communication, governance and collaboration while building strong foundations for the future. As we Reflect. Renew. Refocus. on our next chapter, the District Secretary will play an important role in helping turn our plans into action.
The Role:
Working closely with the District Lead Volunteer, Chair of Trustees and wider District team, you'll help ensure our key meetings, information, actions and governance activity are well coordinated. Responsibilities will include:
- Coordinating key District and Trustee Board meetings
- Preparing and circulating agendas, papers and supporting information
- Taking clear and accurate meeting minutes
- Maintaining appropriate meeting and governance records
- Tracking actions and helping ensure agreed activities progress
- Supporting the organisation and administration of the District's Annual General Meeting
- Supporting the coordination of information for the Trustees' Annual Report and other key District activity
- Helping information reach the right people at the right time
- Supporting effective communication across our District teams
- Helping us identify opportunities to simplify and improve our administrative processes

About You:
You don't need previous Scouting experience. We're looking for someone who can bring skills such as:
- Strong organisation and attention to detail
- Clear written and verbal communication
- Ability to coordinate meetings, actions and deadlines
- Confidence working with a range of people and stakeholders
- Good digital skills, ideally including Microsoft 365
- Ability to handle information appropriately and confidentially
- A collaborative and proactive approach
- An interest in improving processes and ways of working
Your experience could come from business, the public sector, another charity, education or your local community.
