Job Description

Please apply via this Link to be considered for this role.

Lead the future of Building Control in one of London's most high-profile boroughs.

The Royal Borough of Kensington & Chelsea is seeking experienced and forward-thinking District Surveyors to play a pivotal role in delivering building safety, regulatory excellence and service transformation within our Building Control Service.

This is a rare opportunity for senior Building Control professionals to lead on complex, high-risk and high-profile projects while helping shape the future of building safety in the post-Grenfell regulatory landscape.

The Opportunity

As District Surveyor, you will provide both technical and operational leadership across the service, ensuring compliance with evolving legislation whilst delivering a high-quality, customer-focused Building Control function.

You will lead the regulation of major developments, oversee governance and compliance requirements, manage and develop Building Control professionals, and act as a trusted advisor to senior leaders, elected members and external stakeholders.

What We're Looking For

We're seeking leaders who can combine deep technical expertise with strong commercial and people management skills.

You Will Bring

  • Chartered membership of CABE, CIOB, RICS or an equivalent professional body.
  • Registration as a Class 3 Building Inspector.
  • Extensive Building Control experience, including major, high-risk and complex developments.
  • Expert knowledge of Building Regulations, Building Safety legislation and fire safety compliance.
  • Experience leading regulatory services within a changing legislative environment.
  • Proven success managing teams, budgets, performance and service improvement initiatives.
  • Outstanding stakeholder management and communication skills, with the credibility to influence senior decision-makers and regulators.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
