Role description
The purpose of this role is to lead the local Construction Division business to deliver safe, sustainable and profitable growth across the UK. The role is accountable for translating Construction Division and Group priorities into clear commercial, operational and people plans; strengthening market position through disciplined business development, customer account management and major project focus; and ensuring direct sales, operations, parts and service activities are aligned to agreed revenue, margin, order intake and customer experience targets. As the senior local business leader for the Construction Division, the role carries end-to-end accountability for the Construction Division P&L, governance, risk management, operational performance and cross-functional cooperation needed to deliver consistent results in line with Alimak Group standards.
The role also acts as legal representative for relevant local entities and provides local governance support in partnership with HSEQ, People and Culture, Finance and Legal.
Key tasks & Responsibilities:
Sales Strategy
- Develop and implement the sales strategy with the Regional Sales Director, ensuring alignment with Construction Division priorities, Group objectives and regional growth targets.
- Prioritise profitable customers and major projects across New, Used, Parts and Services to support revenue and margin growth.
- Create supporting initiatives across revenue, cost and people to enable achievement of agreed targets.
- Manage existing customer accounts to secure repeat business and ongoing service sales.
- Monitor market trends, customer needs, competitor activity and emerging opportunities to inform local growth plans and improve market share.
- Ensure compliance with Group reporting tools, including Salesforce.com, Alimak Price Sheets and CPQ.
Operations
- Lead operational performance across sales support, installation, service delivery and parts activity to deliver safe, reliable and customer-focused outcomes.
- Maintain and improve operational processes to support quality, safety, environmental standards and service efficiency.
- Keep Product Management and Division Operations informed of market trends, customer requirements, service performance and product improvement opportunities.
- Provide customer and operational feedback to the factory to support continuous improvement, quality discussions and future product development.

Governance, Risk & Compliance
- Act as legal representative for relevant local entities and ensure local business activity operates within Alimak Group governance frameworks.
- Work within Delegation of Authorities, contract approval requirements and applicable policies, escalating material risks with clear mitigation actions.
- Partner with HSEQ, People and Culture, Finance and Legal to ensure compliant, consistent and well-controlled local operations.
- Embed a proactive safety and risk culture, ensuring HSEQ objectives, incident learnings and compliance requirements are actively managed.
Financial Management
- Collect cash within plan and Group guidelines.
- Ensure new business is written in accordance with Alimak Group financial guidelines, approval requirements and risk parameters.
- Establish contracts, ensuring all contracts are written within company guidelines or escalated for approval, outlining risks and mitigation strategies.
- Report monthly on lag KPIs (what happened) and lead KPIs (what will happen).
- Submit 6-month Order Intake forecasts, providing variance analysis.
- Work within the Delegation of Authorities.
- Comply with policies, systems and procedures (e.g. Expense and Travel, Vehicle, Phone and Laptop policies).
People Management
- Lead and develop direct and indirect reports by setting clear expectations, supporting performance, strengthening collaboration across Sales and Operations, and modelling Alimak Group values.
- Build capability, engagement and succession strength through regular performance conversations, coaching and development planning.
- Partner with local Operations and Sales teams to strengthen key account execution, order conversion and compliance with governance requirements.
Accountability
- Coordinate Division Distributors through the Local Sales Company and Sales Resources to ensure alignment with Group policies, regional account plans and agreed commercial priorities.
- Deliver agreed order intake, revenue, margin and working capital outcomes through disciplined regional execution and effective management of distributors and major accounts.

Skills & Knowledge
- Ability to build and maintain strong customer relationships.

- Financial literacy, capable of understanding the interaction of financial decisions and Profit and Loss.

Experience
- Demonstrable and significant management experience in a medium-sized global organisation, with exposure to multiple regions, product lines and international stakeholders
- Experienced in thought leadership and entrepreneurial solution-providing in a business development capacity.
- Evidence of a sales track record in an engineering product line.
- Demonstrable consultative sales experience.
- Evidence of selling in the construction industry.
- Experience in selling customised capital goods.
- Experience with an international organisation, multiple regions and multiple product lines.
- Experience of selling in a safety and quality culture.
- Experience of contract negotiation, risk identification, risk mitigation and risk management.
- Experience in assessing and executing change successfully in a leadership position.
Qualifications
- Relevant Engineering or Marketing degree, or equivalent experience.
