Managing Director - National Facilities & Outsourced Services

Location: UK - Remote-based with significant national travel
Salary: Competitive + equity

HPR Executive has been retained to appoint a Managing Director for a substantial division of a private equity-backed UK services group.

This is a significant leadership appointment with responsibility for a large, geographically dispersed operation delivering essential planned and reactive services across thousands of customer locations throughout the UK.

The wider Group is established, profitable and entering an ambitious next phase of development, with significant opportunity for both organic and acquisitive growth.

We are looking for an experienced senior leader from the Facilities Management, outsourced services or complex multi-site service environment who can take full P&L ownership of the division and lead it through its next stage of growth.

This is not a steady-state MD appointment.

The successful individual will inherit an established operation with scale, customers and capability, but with a clear mandate to strengthen performance, develop the organisation and build the platform required for significant future growth.

The opportunity

Reporting directly to the Group CEO, you will have full divisional responsibility, encompassing P&L, operations, commercial performance, customers, people and growth. Your remit will include:

  • Full ownership of divisional P&L, with accountability for revenue, margin, profitability and cash performance
  • Leadership of a large, geographically dispersed operational workforce delivering services across multiple customer locations
  • Developing and executing a clear divisional growth and value-creation plan
  • Driving operational excellence, productivity, service quality and consistency
  • Improving contract performance, commercial discipline and margin
  • Building organisational capability and developing a high-performing leadership team
  • Strengthening operational processes, controls, KPIs and management information
  • Using technology and data to improve planning, productivity, customer visibility and decision-making
  • Leading relationships with strategically important national customers
  • Ensuring effective mobilisation and delivery of complex, multi-site contracts
  • Identifying opportunities to deepen existing customer relationships and broaden service penetration
  • Creating greater consistency and accountability across a distributed operation
  • Supporting the integration of acquired businesses and new capabilities
  • Working closely with the Group CEO, Board and investor around strategy, performance, M&A activity and value creation
  • Maintaining an uncompromising focus on safety, compliance and customer service

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

No noise. No "maybe this fits." Just roles with a clear explanation of why they're right — and where to focus when applying.

The person

A strong Facilities Management or outsourced-services background is essential. However, we are deliberately looking beyond one narrow part of the FM market.

You could currently be working within an FM provider, leading a substantial business unit, region, service line or national operation. Equally, you may sit client-side within a major organisation, with executive responsibility for a sizeable in-house or outsourced facilities, property, estates or workplace operation.

What matters is the scale and complexity of what you have led.

We would be interested in individuals currently operating as a:

  • Managing Director / Divisional Managing Director
  • Business Unit Managing Director
  • Regional Managing Director
  • Operations Director
  • Divisional Director
  • FM Director
  • Estates / Property Services Director
  • Senior leader with comparable operational and P&L accountability

You will need to demonstrate significant experience of:

  • Leading complex, geographically dispersed service operations
  • Managing substantial operational teams and leadership structures
  • Operating in an FM, outsourced-services, property/estate services or comparable environment
  • Full P&L and commercial accountability
  • Delivering against demanding service levels and customer expectations
  • Managing significant national or multi-site customer relationships
  • Improving operational performance, productivity and margin
  • Building leadership capability and strengthening organisations
  • Leading through growth, transformation or significant organisational change

Experience within a private equity-backed environment would be advantageous but is not essential. More important is an understanding of pace, accountability, performance and value creation.

We are particularly interested in leaders who understand the commercial dynamics of contracted service delivery, where operational execution, labour productivity, customer retention, mobilisation, pricing, margin and service quality are intrinsically linked.

This appointment requires more than an accomplished corporate leader. We are looking for someone who is commercially sharp, operationally credible and highly visible. Someone capable of operating strategically with a CEO, Board and investor, but equally willing to get underneath an operation, understand where performance is being won or lost and spend time with the people actually delivering the service.

You will be comfortable challenging established ways of working, making decisions and holding people accountable, while bringing an organisation with you. The environment is entrepreneurial, ambitious and evolving quickly. It will suit someone who enjoys building and scaling businesses rather than simply maintaining them.

This represents an opportunity to take leadership of an established national operation, with the backing and investment to deliver a significant next phase of growth.

Remote-based contract with significant UK travel.
