Volunteer DJ, Sound & Lighting Opportunity

What Will You Be Doing?

Work with our volunteer events team members & lead music/sound/lighting our 7th-anniversary celebration on 1st September 2026, delivering an exciting pop-up fashion show and live music performances at a community celebration event at a stunning historic venue also being used by London Fashion Week for some runway shows this year.

This pivotal role is designed for an experienced professional based in London who can attend on the day and wants to use their skills to tackle social isolation and build community cohesion. You will take the music/sound/lighting reins of a high-profile, fast-paced event hosted at a stunning, historic London venue, transforming it into a vibrant space of connection and celebration. Ideally, you will have at least your own sound desk.

Key Responsibilities

Event Music Backing Tracks Running Order, Sound, Lighting Planning and Venue Coordination

  • Manage logistical delivery for all music/sound/lighting aspects of the 7th-anniversary celebration.
  • Oversee spatial layout planning with colleagues to accommodate the pop-up runway and music stages.
  • Ensure full compliance with venue health, safety, and licensing regulations.
  • Conduct risk assessments specifically tailored to historic building constraints with events management team colleagues.

Creative Showcase Management

  • Help coordinate the sound and lighting plan for the pop-up community fashion show from backstage sequencing to final bows.
  • Manage performance schedules for the community music acts.
  • Supervise technical requirements including sound, lighting, and AV setups.
  • Help coordinate performers on stage, technical soundcheck.
  • Help the wider team maintain creative momentum ensuring the event narrative reflects community cohesion.

Volunteer and Team Collaboration

  • Work with a dedicated team of on-site event volunteers.
  • Foster an inclusive environment that welcomes diverse attendees and reduces social isolation.
  • Serve as a point of contact for event team members on the day for music, sound, lighting (AV).
  • Maintain high energy and a welcoming community atmosphere.

Stakeholder and Participant Liaison

  • Communicate music, sound, and lighting setup details clearly to key community, models, and musicians and events team colleagues.

Operations and Contingency Planning

  • Troubleshoot operational issues swiftly to ensure seamless transitions between segments.
  • Manage event timings to respect venue curfews and performance slots.
  • Coordinate on the sound/lighting post-event pack-down ensuring the historic venue is left pristine.
  • Report final outcomes and logistical debriefs to the organisation's leadership.

Desired Experience

  • Proven track record in events, festivals, or live showcases.
  • Strong connection to London with the ability to travel to the venue easily.
  • Deep passion for community empowerment, social inclusion, and diversity.
  • Assist with onsite event logistics and setup if needed.
