We’re looking for a talented Cost Accountant to join us on a full-time, permanent basis.

You would be based at our site in Castle Donnington with the option of hybrid working. The role would be Monday to Friday.

What You’ll Do On a Typical Day

  • Prepare and distribute weekly reports to monitor financial & operational performance.
  • Responsible for producing detailed open-book cost statements for site review weekly.
  • Develop a strong understanding of the contracts to be able to support weekly and monthly reporting, as well as reconciliations.
  • Work closely with the Site managers, Contract Managers and Senior Finance Manager to develop and improve current reporting procedures both financial and KPIs.
  • Improve credibility and understanding of site performance on a weekly and monthly basis, ensuring accuracy and integrity of numbers and analysis reported.
  • Attendance at review of results (Weekly Flash/Pulse, monthly results review) with a view to input towards improvement of results.
  • Month end tasks such as journal posting, variance analysis and balance sheet reconciliations.
  • Assist with commercial review preparation as required.
  • Assist with annual Budget/ Rolling forecast preparation with site managers for review and approval by Senior FM and FBP.
  • Pro-active weekly communication with contract managers to ensure processes such as Purchase Orders, Payroll and Invoicing are being adhered to.
  • Participate in ad-hoc analysis as required.
  • Be able to think on your feet and contribute to provide solutions.

What You Need To Succeed At XPO

  • Currently studying for a recognised financial qualification
  • Excellent communication skills – you’ll be speaking regularly with various stakeholders, so need to be able to communicate at all levels over the phone/email or in person
  • A sound understanding of Microsoft packages including Excel and Outlook
  • SAP knowledge is desirable but not essential
  • Be eager to learn and progress within your role and department
  • Able to work to deadlines and have great attention to detail
