Electrician – 3 Month Contract

Location: Hancock Road
Rate: £26.47 per hour (Umbrella)
Working Hours: 40 hours per week
Contract: Temporary (3 Months)
Pay: Bi-weekly

Summary

This temporary 3-month contract role is part of the Direct Repairs Team, focusing on delivering top-notch electrical repairs, maintenance, testing, and inspection services across residential properties. The successful candidate will ensure that all electrical tasks are executed safely and efficiently, adhering to current regulations and industry standards, while providing exceptional customer service to residents and stakeholders.

Responsibilities

Electrical Repairs & Maintenance

  • Perform electrical repairs, maintenance, and installations in residential properties.
  • Diagnose electrical faults and implement effective solutions.
  • Ensure compliance with electrical regulations and safety standards.

Testing, Inspection & Compliance

  • Conduct electrical testing, inspections, and surveys.
  • Perform Portable Appliance Testing (PAT) as needed.
  • Complete certification and compliance documentation.
  • Prepare detailed reports on completed works and inspection outcomes.

Customer Service & Communication

  • Deliver professional, customer-focused service.
  • Communicate effectively with residents, colleagues, contractors, and stakeholders.
  • Clearly explain repair requirements and outcomes to customers.

Reporting & Record Keeping

  • Accurately complete job sheets, inspection reports, and certification records.
  • Maintain comprehensive documentation in line with company procedures.

Emergency & Out-of-Hours Support

  • Participate in occasional out-of-hours and emergency response work.
  • Attend urgent repair requests and electrical emergencies as required.

Requirements

Qualifications

  • NVQ Level 3 Electrical Installation + AM2 or equivalent.
  • City & Guilds 2391 or 2395 for Inspection & Testing.
  • City & Guilds 2382 (18th Edition Wiring Regulations).

Knowledge

  • Strong understanding of electrical installation and maintenance practices.
  • Thorough knowledge of electrical safety standards and legislation.

Experience

  • Minimum 5 years' experience in electrical installation and/or maintenance.
  • Experience in fault finding, inspections, testing, and certification.
  • Desirable: Experience in social housing or local authority environments.

Skills & Competencies

  • Strong fault-finding and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent technical knowledge of electrical systems.
  • High attention to detail and commitment to quality.
  • Strong customer service and communication skills.

Additional Requirements

  • Full UK Driving Licence with no more than 6 penalty points.
  • Minimum of 2 years' driving experience.
  • Willingness to undertake driving licence checks.
  • Flexibility to work occasional out-of-hours shifts.

  • This is a 3-month temporary contract.
  • Rate: £26.47 per hour (Umbrella).
  • Location: Hancock Road.
  • 40 hours per week.
  • Pay is provided on a bi-weekly basis.
