About the Role

The Board of Electors to the Dobson Professorship of Materials Science and Metallurgy invite applications for this Professorship from persons whose work falls within the field of the Professorship, to take up appointment in 2027 or as soon as possible thereafter.

The Professorship benefits from a permanent endowment that provides research support and an exceptional opportunity to build a world-leading research group.

Key Requirements

  • Outstanding research record and a sustained international reputation in energy materials and materials discovery.
  • Ability to establish an ambitious research programme focused on accelerating materials discovery, development and translation of functional electronic materials and devices.
  • Department is particularly interested in automation, computational materials discovery, and low-power electronic devices for information communication technologies.
  • Research may be experimental, computational or integrated, but should present a compelling vision for addressing challenges in energy materials and technologies.
  • Provide intellectual and strategic leadership, build major interdisciplinary collaborations across the Department, School and wider University, and engage effectively with external partners.
  • Hold a PhD or equivalent postgraduate qualification.
