City St. George's is building a new team in the Doctoral College to support the university’s PhD programmes. We are looking for new colleagues to join the team as Doctoral College Officers working across our 6 schools. If you have experience with university PGR programmes, like working with like-minded people and want a chance to develop your organizational skills, we hope you will think about applying for a role at our Tooting campus.
About the Role
As the Doctoral College Officer, you will ensure postgraduate research activities at City St George’s run smoothly. You will support students, academic staff, and external examiners from thesis submission to the final award. Your tasks include managing exam entry, overseeing thesis submissions, maintaining accurate records, and ensuring exam results are clearly communicated.
You will also support the Research Degrees Programme Committee, keep the Postgraduate Research Canvas pages up to date, and help manage studentship processes. You will be the main point of contact for questions from staff and doctoral researchers, providing clear guidance on processes and policies. By being proactive, you will help ensure every doctoral researcher receives timely and helpful support.

What We’re Looking For
We seek an organized and motivated individual with a strong attention to detail and experience in managing complex administrative tasks. The ideal candidate will demonstrate the ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team, and effectively manage a demanding workload. Proficiency in IT, particularly with Microsoft Word, Excel, Canvas, and databases, is essential. Experience with postgraduate research and student records systems such as SITS is advantageous but not required.
A commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusion is essential, as is a willingness to engage in ongoing professional development. Strong written and verbal communication skills are required to collaborate effectively with doctoral researchers, academic staff, and external examiners.
