John Paul Construction is seeking an experienced Document Controller to join a major data centre project in Newport, South Wales.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Document Controller / Construction Document Controller to work on a major, high-profile construction project with one of Ireland and the UK's leading main contractors.
The successful candidate will be responsible for the day-to-day management, control and distribution of project documentation, ensuring information is accurately recorded, maintained and accessible to project teams and stakeholders.
The Role
As Document Controller, you will work closely with the project management, engineering, commercial and site teams to ensure effective document control throughout the project lifecycle.
Your Responsibilities Will Include
- Managing and maintaining project documentation in line with company and project procedures.
- Controlling the issue, receipt, revision and distribution of project documents.
- Maintaining accurate document registers and ensuring document status is up to date.
- Uploading, reviewing and distributing drawings, specifications, reports, correspondence and other project documentation.
- Ensuring the correct document revisions are available to project teams.
- Managing document workflows and approvals.
- Supporting the project team with document retrieval and information requests.
- Liaising with subcontractors, consultants, suppliers and internal teams regarding document submissions.
- Ensuring project records are maintained accurately and efficiently.
- Assisting with the close-out and handover of project documentation.

Essential Experience
We are looking for an experienced Document Controller with a strong background in construction, ideally gained on large-scale projects such as data centres, commercial developments, industrial projects or other major infrastructure schemes.
You Should Have
- Proven experience working as a Document Controller within the construction industry.
- Strong knowledge of construction document control processes and procedures.
- Experience using Viewpoint and Procore.
- Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills.
- The ability to manage large volumes of documentation accurately and efficiently.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- The ability to work effectively with project teams, subcontractors, consultants and other stakeholders.
- A proactive approach with the ability to work independently and as part of a busy project team.

Long-Term Opportunity
The initial position will be based on a major data centre project in Newport.
On completion of the Newport project, the successful candidate will be expected to remain with John Paul Construction and transfer to another major project. Future projects may require staying away during the working week, with potential locations including the South East of England or the Newcastle area.
This is therefore an excellent opportunity for a Document Controller looking for a long-term career with a major construction contractor, rather than a short-term project position.
