Document Controller

Location: Warrington (Hybrid – 3 days office / 2 days home)
Contract: 12 Months
IR35 Status: Outside IR35
Start: ASAP - 4 weeks
Rate: Competitive Day Rate

We're recruiting for an experienced Document Controller to join a leading engineering and infrastructure organisation delivering major industrial projects across the UK.
This is an excellent opportunity to become part of a growing project delivery team and play a key role in establishing a dedicated Document Control function. You'll support both the mobilisation of new projects and the management of legacy project documentation, ensuring all documentation is accurate, compliant and effectively controlled throughout the project lifecycle.

The Role

As Document Controller, you will be responsible for:

  • Managing project documentation within Electronic Document Management Systems (EDMS).
  • Setting up document control processes for new projects.
  • Creating and maintaining project data books.
  • Establishing work packages and document structures.
  • Managing document numbering, version control and revision history.
  • Maintaining document registers, indexing and filing systems.
  • Organising and managing legacy project documentation.
  • Issuing, distributing and archiving project documentation.
  • Working closely with Quality, HSQE and project delivery teams to ensure documentation is controlled and compliant.

About You

You'll have:

  • Previous experience as a Document Controller within engineering, construction, utilities or infrastructure projects.
  • Strong working knowledge of Electronic Document Management Systems (EDMS).
  • A solid understanding of document control processes, version control and document lifecycle management.
  • Excellent organisational skills with exceptional attention to detail.
  • The ability to manage multiple priorities within a fast-paced project environment.

Desirable Experience

  • Experience using Procore and/or Aconex.
  • Experience supporting mechanical engineering, industrial plant, process, pipeline or other major infrastructure projects.
  • Experience creating and maintaining project data books.
