Document Controller – Energy Infrastructure

IR35: Outside IR35

Sector: Energy / Energy Infrastructure / Renewables

Experience: 3–5 Years


The Opportunity:

We are looking for an experienced Document Controller to support the delivery of a major energy infrastructure project on an initial 12-month contract with strong potential for extension.

The successful candidate will have 3–5 years of document control experience, ideally gained within energy, power, utilities, renewables, or major infrastructure projects, and will be confident managing technical and project documentation through an Electronic Document Management System (EDMS). Experience using ProjectWise or similar is highly desirable.


Key Responsibilities

  • Manage, control, and maintain project documentation throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Upload, distribute, track, and archive technical documentation using ProjectWise, ThinkWise, or similar EDMS platforms.
  • Maintain accurate document registers, revision histories, transmittals, and document workflows.
  • Ensure drawings, engineering documents, specifications, reports, and project records are correctly controlled and distributed.
  • Coordinate documentation between engineering teams, project management, contractors, suppliers, and clients.
  • Monitor document review and approval processes, ensuring documentation is issued within agreed project timescales.
  • Ensure documents comply with project procedures, naming conventions, numbering systems, and quality requirements.
  • Support engineering and project teams with document retrieval, reporting, and general EDMS administration.
  • Assist with project handover documentation and ensure complete and accurate project records are maintained.

Requirements

  • 3–5 years' experience working as a Document Controller or within a similar project documentation role.
  • Previous experience within Energy, Energy Infrastructure, Power, Utilities, or Renewable Energy projects.
  • Experience with ProjectWise or ThinkWise EDMS is strongly preferred.
  • Strong understanding of document control procedures, revision control, and document workflows.
  • Experience working with technical and engineering documentation.
  • Comfortable working with multidisciplinary engineering and project teams.
  • Excellent organizational skills and strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage large volumes of documentation while working to project deadlines.
