Document Controller - Regional Main Contractor
Location: Lancing, West Sussex
Salary: Competitive, depending on experience
Sector: Construction - New Build / Design & Build / Refurbishment

The Opportunity
Hill McGlynn are currently working with a successful and well-established regional main contractor who are looking to appoint an experienced Document Controller to join their team, based from their Lancing office.
Our client delivers a diverse portfolio of construction projects, including new build, design and build, and refurbishment solutions, and has built an excellent reputation for delivering high-quality projects for a range of clients.
This is an excellent opportunity for an organised and detail-focused Document Controller to join an established construction business and play an important role in supporting the smooth administration and delivery of projects.
The Role
As Document Controller, you will be responsible for managing and maintaining project documentation, ensuring information is accurately recorded, distributed and accessible to the relevant project teams.
Key Responsibilities Will Include
- Managing and maintaining project documentation and information systems.
- Controlling the issue, receipt and distribution of drawings, specifications and project documents.
- Ensuring documents are correctly named, filed, tracked and version controlled.
- Maintaining document registers and ensuring all information is kept up to date.
- Uploading and distributing documents to project teams, consultants, subcontractors and clients.
- Monitoring document revisions and ensuring teams are working from the latest information.
- Supporting project teams with document retrieval and information requests.
- Managing correspondence and maintaining accurate project records.
- Assisting with the preparation and compilation of project handover documentation.
- Ensuring company document control procedures and processes are followed.
- Liaising with site teams, design teams, subcontractors, consultants and clients where required.
- Supporting multiple projects and maintaining accurate records across the business.

About You
We are looking for an organised and proactive Document Controller who is ideally experienced within the construction industry.
You Will Ideally Have
- Previous experience working as a Document Controller, ideally for a main contractor or construction company.
- A good understanding of construction documentation and project information.
- Experience managing drawings, specifications, revisions and document registers.
- Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills.
- Strong IT skills, particularly Microsoft Office.
- Experience using construction document management systems is desirable.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively with multiple teams.
- The ability to prioritise workloads and work to deadlines.
- A proactive and methodical approach to your work.
