Role Description
The Documentary Filmmaker will develop, direct, and produce documentary-style video content that explores European business, innovation, and leadership topics aligned with EBM’s editorial focus. This full-time hybrid role is based in the London Area, United Kingdom, with a mix of on-site work (such as interviews, location shoots, and collaboration with the editorial team) and some work from home.

Day-to-day responsibilities include:

- Researching and pitching documentary concepts
- Planning and coordinating shoots
- Directing on-camera interviews and storytelling segments
- Managing video production workflows from pre-production through post-production
The Filmmaker will collaborate closely with editors, journalists, and digital teams to ensure visual narratives complement written reporting and meet EBM’s quality standards. The role also involves overseeing editing, sound, and finishing processes, delivering content optimized for web, social media, and other digital channels.
Qualifications
- Candidates should possess skills in Film Direction and Scriptwriting to shape compelling narratives and guide on-screen storytelling.
- Candidates should possess skills in Film Production and Video Production to manage shoots, crew, equipment, and end-to-end production logistics.
- Candidates should possess skills in Post-Production to oversee editing, sound design, color grading, and preparing final deliverables for multiple platforms.
- Experience creating documentaries or long-form journalistic video content, preferably in business, economics, or current affairs.
- Strong visual storytelling abilities, including interviewing, story structuring, and translating complex topics into accessible narratives.
- Proficiency with professional camera systems, lighting, and audio equipment, as well as industry-standard editing software (e.g., Adobe Premiere Pro, DaVinci Resolve, Final Cut Pro).
- Excellent collaboration and communication skills, with the ability to work closely with editorial, design, and digital teams in a hybrid environment.
- Strong organizational and project management skills, including the ability to handle multiple projects, meet deadlines, and work independently.
- Knowledge of European business and its ecosystem.
