Role Overview
Location: UK-based, hybrid working Regular travel may be required for client engagements, Methods offices, and practice/community events.
Salary: £80,000–£120,000 base salary plus bonus
Role Summary
This thought-leadership role empowers organisations to build data-centric foundations for trustworthy analytics, AI, interoperability, regulatory compliance, and operational decision-making.
The Data Governance, Stewardship & Information Management Specialist plays a critical role in addressing complex data challenges—such as:
- Legacy systems with fragmented data
- Operational data silos
- Regulated processes with demanding compliance, security, and auditability requirements
Core Responsibilities
The successful candidate will lead and advise on critical data initiatives across multiple domains within Methods’ core strategic offerings:
- Client-Side Transformation Partner
- User-Centred Design & Delivery
- Cloud Transformation & Modernisation
- Data Intelligence & Applied AI
- IT Operations & Service Excellence
- Enterprise Platform Adoption & Value Realisation
- Cyber Resilience
Key Deliverables & Responsibilities:
- Lead data governance, stewardship, and information management engagements for public-sector and regulated industry clients
- Define enterprise governance operating models with clear decision rights, governance forums, ownership, stewardship roles, escalation pathways, and accountability
- Develop data policies, standards, and controls for:
- Data quality
- Metadata & lineage
- Cataloguing & classification
- Access, sharing, retention, and lifecycle management
- Shape master data management (MDM) and reference data strategies with an emphasis on golden sources, matching, survivorship, and cross-stakeholder alignment
- Assess and enhance data quality through:
- Quality dimension analyses
- Issue management and remediation planning
- Root-cause analysis frameworks
- Dashboards and accountability mechanisms
- Facilitate data sharing and interoperability across departments, suppliers, operatives, and regulators
- Partner with cyber, architecture, legal, DPO, and SIRO stakeholders on information governance risks, privacy, data loss prevention (DLP), and secure access controls
- AI-readiness assessments by reinforcing:
- Documentation, quality, and governance
- Access controls, stewardship, and reuse infrastructure
- Support sales and bid teams in:
- Crafting propositions for data governance, data quality, MDM frameworks, data management, and AI-readiness
- Foster implementation roadmaps for tools and workflows, including:
- Data catalogues, quality assessments, MDM platforms, metadata management, governance workflows, and stewardship communities

Essential Experience
Required background and achievements:
- 8+ years in data governance, information management, data quality, MDM, metadata management, and data strategy—or equivalent consulting experience
- Proven impact through:
- Improved data quality
- Reduced reporting risks
- Enhanced regulatory compliance
- Better data sharing initiatives
- Platform adoption success
- Data ownership gaps resolved
- Elevated decision-making fidelity
- Track record as a trusted advisor to senior stakeholders in:
- Data, technology, risk, compliance, operations, and transformation
- Experience in public-sector consulting, regulated industries, or large complex organisations
- Robust understanding of:
- Data governance frameworks, stewardship models, ownership, and accountable governance implementation
- Proven ability to develop:
- Policies, standards, frameworks, educational materials, maturity assessments, governance packs, and playbooks
- Hands-on experience with:
- Master data, reference data, metadata
- Data cataloguing, lineage, data quality
- DLP, access controls, and information governance practices
- Bid-support experience in shaping governed governance and AI-readiness strategies
- Record of:
- Community involvement (CoP, mentoring, knowledge-sharing)
- Collaboration with cohorts of data owners and peers
- Deep experience in highly regulated environments, particularly with emphasis on:
- Data quality, traceability, security, auditability, and compliance requirements

- Collibra, Informatica, Ataccama, Alation, Azure, AWS, Databricks, Snowflake, Microsoft Fabric
- Experience collaborating with:
- DPOs, SIROs, CISOs, enterprise architects, data platform teams, business data owners
- Deep expertise with the following domains:
- GDPR, Data Protection Act 2018, Freedom of Information, record management, data-sharing agreements, sector-specific obligations
- Building governed governance functions, data offices, stewardship networks, and data management communities
Security Clearance Requirement
Majoring hiring consideration—Security clearance is mandatory.
