Role Overview
Location: UK-based, hybrid working Regular travel required to client sites, Methods offices, and training/community events. Salary: £80,000–£120,000 base with bonus.
About This Role
As a Domain Expert in Responsible AI, Ethics & Assurance, you will guide clients in adopting AI and data-driven technologies responsibly, ensuring they are safe, lawful, ethical, and transparent.
This role is critical for organisations where AI impacts:
- Citizens/stakeholders
- Regulated processes or safety-critical decisions
- Operational risk
- Public trust
It is particularly relevant to public sector, energy, defence, aerospace, and other high-stakes industries requiring explainable, assured, governed, and defensible AI solutions.
Methods is hiring seven Domain Experts, each specialising in a key strategic focus area, including:
- Client-Side Transformation
- User-Centred Design & Delivery
- Cloud Transformation & Modernisation
- Data Intelligence & Applied AI (your focus area)
- IT Operations & Service Excellence
- Enterprise Platform Adoption & Value Realisation
- Cyber Resilience
You will act as a thought leader in Responsible AI, shaping proposals, leading deliveries, and solidifying Methods’ market position.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead Responsible AI engagements for public-sector and regulated clients, developing frameworks for fairness, accountability, transparency, and safety.

Design and implement AI governance structures including:
- AI boards, risk assessment frameworks, accountabilities
- Approval gates, lifecycle controls, and overall regulatory compliance.

Conduct AI impact assessments, evaluating ethical risks, equality, privacy, data protection, model/system risk, operational risk, and potential harm.

Assure AI systems through case development, evidence requirements, testing, validation, monitoring, and post-deployment reviews.

Develop assurance strategies for model/system evaluation, addressing:
- Explainability, transparency, robustness, security, human oversight, and scalability.

Operate across AI lifecycle stages—use-case selection, data preparation, development, evaluation, and post-deployment monitoring.

Engage with stakeholders (Data Scientists, Engineers, Architects, Legal, Commercial, Risk) to embed ethical and truly meaningful controls.

Support sales and bids by shaping Responsible AI, AI assurance, governance, and ethical tech solutions.

Contribute to internal Responsible AI capacity-building through:
- Playbooks, KPIs, communities of practice, training, mentoring, and delivery assurance support.
Who You Are
Essential Experience
✅ 8+ years in Responsible AI, AI Assurance, Data Ethics or related advisory work.
✅ Measurable impact—such as enabling safe AI deployment, reducing risk, improving transparency, securing governance or regulatory approvals.
✅ Expertise as a trusted advisor on AI, ethical, risk, or governance matters at senior levels.
✅ Proven consulting, public sector, or regulated industry experience.
✅ Strong AI lifecycle mastery—including use-case analysis, data preparation, model development, testing, monitoring.
✅ Ability to translate governance and assurance principles into actionable controls.
✅ Capability to work with sales/bid teams in designing Responsible AI propositions.
✅ Proven record of developing communities of practice, training materials, templates, or professional guidance.
✅ Clear, persuasive communication—bridging technical AI risk with non-technical decision-makers.
✅ Confident operating in highly regulated environments requiring transparency, audit, safety, and risk alignment.

Sector Experience -- Zealously Valued
● Public sector AI, digital transformation, data analytics ● Energy, utilities, critical infrastructure, OT environments ● Defence, aerospace, space, safety-critical engineering domains ● Financial services, modelling, insurance, or high-impact decision-making sectors like healthcare, justice, and policing
Desirable Experience
📌 Familiarity with:
- UK Government Data and AI Ethics Framework
- Algorithmic Transparency Recording Standard (ATRS)
- AI Playbook for Government, UK GDPR, Data Protection Act 2018, Equality Act 2010
📌 Certification advantage:
- ISO/IEC 42001, ISO/IEC 23894, NIST AI Risk Framework
- Model risk management, safety case, or equivalent AI risk frameworks
📌 Advanced GenAI, LLMs, SaaS assurance evaluation skills
📌 Privacy/Security/Risk/Audit certifications (e.g., CIPP/E, CIPM, CRISC, ISO qualifications)
Security Clearance Requirement
This role mandates a Security Clearance. Upon shortlisting, candidates must:
- Pass a Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS) vetting check.
