Trafford Domestic Abuse Services (TDAS) is a registered charity that supports individuals and families in the Trafford area who are experiencing or have experienced domestic abuse. TDAS delivers both intervention and prevention services, offering practical and emotional support to help people stay safe and rebuild their lives. The organization works closely with other voluntary and community partners across Greater Manchester to provide coordinated, holistic assistance. TDAS is committed to inclusive, person-centered services that respect the dignity, autonomy, and diverse needs of all clients.
Role Description
The Domestic Abuse Advisor is a full-time, on-site role based in the Manchester Area, United Kingdom. The advisor will provide crisis intervention, risk assessment, safety planning, and ongoing casework support to people affected by domestic abuse. Day-to-day tasks include:
- Meeting with clients in person
- Completing comprehensive needs assessments
- Coordinating referrals to housing, legal, health, and financial services
- Maintaining accurate and confidential case records

The role involves:

- Liaising with partner agencies
- Attending multi-agency meetings
- Advocating for clients within statutory and voluntary systems
The advisor will also contribute to prevention and awareness activities, such as:
- Delivering information sessions
- Supporting group work programs
- Promoting best practice in safeguarding and trauma-informed care
Qualifications
- Strong client support skills, including crisis intervention, case management, and advocacy within domestic abuse or related support services.
- Knowledge of safeguarding practices, risk assessment frameworks, and relevant legislation and guidance relating to domestic abuse and family safety.
- Excellent communication skills, including active listening, report writing, and the ability to work sensitively with people from diverse backgrounds.
- Ability to work collaboratively with multi-agency partners, including health, housing, social care, criminal justice, and voluntary sector organizations.
- Organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to prioritize caseloads, maintain accurate records, and follow service procedures.
- Resilience and self-awareness, with the ability to maintain professional boundaries and seek supervision and support when needed.
- Comfort using digital tools and case management systems, including secure databases, email, and standard office software.
- Relevant training or qualification in social work, counseling, criminology, psychology, or a related field, or equivalent experience in support or advocacy roles.
- Experience working in domestic abuse, safeguarding, homelessness, mental health, or other trauma-informed environments is highly beneficial.
