Location: Stoke-on-Trent

Salary: £26,266.60

As a Domestic Abuse Practitioner, you’ll provide compassionate, person-centred support to adults and families affected by domestic abuse, helping them rebuild their lives and move towards a safer future. From referral through to independent living, you’ll work closely with individuals to deliver tailored support around housing, safety, wellbeing, finances and recovery. Working alongside partner agencies, you’ll advocate for customers, manage risk, and empower people to achieve positive outcomes while living free from abuse.

What You’ll Do

  • Process referrals, assess risk and support needs, and manage accommodation allocations and voids.
  • Deliver tailored, person-centred support around housing, safety, wellbeing, health and finances.
  • Work with customers, partner agencies and multi-agency forums to advocate for needs and coordinate support.
  • Maintain accurate records, complete monitoring requirements, and ensure information is stored securely.
  • Support the day-to-day running of the service, including housing management, on-call response and safe accommodation standards.
  • Help customers move into and on from accommodation safely, building the skills, confidence and independence needed for the future.

Who You Are

  • A good level of education such as GCSE English and maths, or equivalent.
  • Experience delivering support to customers, recognising their individual needs, making sure they have access to opportunities, all while meeting set deadlines.
  • Experience supporting adults with complex needs such as relationship abuse and mental health.
  • Knowledge of housing and health and safety requirements in a safe accommodation setting.
  • An understanding of domestic abuse, including the impact on those affected by it and the legal and practical remedies available to them.
  • The ability to work well under pressure and in complex situations.
  • Great written and verbal communication skills.
  • A full UK driving licence and use of your own vehicle for work.
  • DBS check.
