Your work will help us
- Increase understanding of domestic abuse, coercive control and safeguarding
- Equip volunteers and professionals with the confidence to respond appropriately
- Improve the quality and consistency of support available to victim-survivors
- Strengthen our RISA Befriender Programme and wider training offer
- Reach more organisations, workplaces and community settings
- Promote trauma-informed, compassionate and survivor-centred practice
- Build awareness of local support pathways and reduce the risk of people feeling unsupported or overlooked
For Resolute, your expertise will also help us strengthen our training capacity and develop a sustainable programme that can grow over time. As a small survivor-led charity, skilled volunteers make a significant difference to what we are able to achieve.
Most importantly, your contribution can help create safer responses for people experiencing domestic abuse. Better-informed communities mean more people are able to recognise warning signs, have sensitive conversations and know where to turn for help.
You will be contributing to a wider mission ensuring victim-survivors are heard, believed, supported and given the opportunity to rebuild their lives.

What are we looking for?
We are looking for someone who is passionate about improving responses to domestic abuse and who can share their knowledge in a clear, engaging and sensitive way.
Our ideal volunteer will have experience or strong knowledge of domestic abuse, safeguarding, trauma-informed practice or a related field such as social care, health, policing, education, counselling or community support.
The most important qualities are a good understanding of domestic abuse and coercive control, strong communication skills, and the ability to create a safe and respectful learning environment.

- Trauma-informed and survivor-centred practice
- Professional boundaries and confidentiality
- Supporting volunteers, staff or professionals to develop their confidence and skills
- Adapting training to different audiences and learning styles
- Reviewing or developing training materials
You do not need to know everything from day one. We are looking for someone who is willing to work collaboratively with Resolute, learn about our approach and help us strengthen our training offer.

Experience of lived-experience-informed practice is welcomed, but we do not expect volunteers to disclose personal experiences.
Above all, we want someone who believes that better knowledge can lead to safer, more compassionate responses to domestic abuse and who wants to use their skills to help create meaningful change.

What will you be doing?
As a Volunteer Domestic Abuse Trainer with Resolute Women’s Support Services, you will play an important role in helping us develop and deliver high-quality, trauma-informed training to volunteers, professionals and organisations.
Your key responsibilities will include supporting the delivery of our RISA Befriender Training Programme and other domestic abuse awareness training. You will help learners understand domestic abuse, coercive control, safeguarding, professional boundaries, confidentiality, trauma-informed practice, risk awareness and appropriate signposting.
You may also help us review and improve training materials, activities and resources to make sure they are clear, engaging and relevant to different audiences. Where appropriate, you may contribute to developing new training modules and provide feedback following sessions.
Key priorities include
- Delivering engaging and sensitive training sessions, either face-to-face or online
- Supporting the development and review of training materials
- Helping ensure training reflects good safeguarding and trauma-informed practice
- Creating a safe and respectful learning environment
- Supporting learners to build confidence in responding appropriately to victim-survivors
- Working with the Resolute team to maintain consistency and quality across our training offer
- Providing feedback on sessions and identifying areas for improvement
Resolute Women’s Support Services is a survivor-led domestic abuse charity based in Barnsley. Our team includes staff, volunteers, counsellors, case workers and specialist partners who work together to provide practical, emotional and therapeutic support to victim-survivors.
You will work closely with Resolute’s leadership and training team and will be supported with relevant information, resources and guidance.
The main deliverable is high-quality training that gives people the knowledge, confidence and practical skills to support victim-survivors safely, compassionately and appropriately.
