Salary: £26,696 per annum, pro rata, plus company benefits – Agenda for Change

As a Domestic Assistant at Forth Valley Royal Hospital, you’ll play an important part in creating a clean, safe and welcoming environment for patients, visitors and colleagues.
Your work has purpose.
You’ll provide cleaning, housekeeping and catering support across clinical areas and departments, helping us maintain high standards of hygiene, infection control and patient care.
You’ll work as part of a wider team and may be based within a specific ward or department or support different areas of the hospital depending on operational needs.
What you’ll do as a Domestic Assistant
- Deliver cleaning and customer services to the required standards across clinical areas, departments and public spaces.
- Clean and maintain areas in line with agreed procedures, hygiene standards and environmental requirements.
- Follow trained domestic work methods and daily work schedules.
- Safely empty, dispose of and replace clinical and domestic waste.
- Maintain high standards of personal hygiene and infection control.
- Support colleagues across the wider team and work flexibly where additional help is needed.
- Support the Housekeeper with catering duties during mealtimes, including the use of food trolleys and kitchen equipment.
- Communicate effectively with colleagues, Team Leaders, patients and other hospital employees.
- Follow Health and Safety, Control of Substances Hazardous to Health (COSHH) and other relevant policies and procedures.
- Report maintenance issues, hazards or concerns about the condition of facilities.
- Use cleaning equipment and machinery safely, following the training provided.

Does this sound like you?
You’ll be comfortable working in a busy hospital environment where high standards of cleanliness, safety and care are essential. This is a physically active role, and you’ll be mobile for much of your working day. Tasks will include manual handling and the use of a range of cleaning and facilities equipment.
As this role involves working within a hospital environment, you must be able to obtain the appropriate Protecting Vulnerable Groups (PVG) checks as part of our pre-employment checks.
Full training will be provided to help you carry out each task safely and effectively. You’ll need to be comfortable using equipment and systems relevant to the role, which may include:
- Industrial cleaning equipment, including vacuums, scrubbers, polishers and buffers.
- Cleaning substances and appropriate personal protective equipment.
- Computer Aided Facilities Management (CAFM) systems.
- Automated Guided Vehicle (AGV) systems.
- Food trolleys and kitchen equipment.
- Industrial washing machines and dishwashers.
- Linen and waste chutes.
