NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde (NHSGGC) is one of the largest healthcare systems in the United Kingdom, employing approximately 40,000 staff across a wide range of clinical and non-clinical professions and roles. We deliver acute hospital, primary, community and mental health services to a population of over 1.15 million people, and to a wider population of 2.2 million when regional and national services are included.

The Role

You will provide a quality domestic service to the CHP premises, ensuring that a clean and safe environment is maintained for patients, staff and visitors following agreed cleaning work schedules, methods and procedures in accordance with NHS Scotland National Cleaning Specification and Healthcare Acquired Infection (HAI) Task Force Code of Practice.

This role does not meet the eligibility criteria for a or a NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde (NHSGGC) is unable to provide candidates or employees with a Certificate of Sponsorship (COS).

Duration, Location, and Working Pattern

This is a permanent post working 19.20 hours per week

Work Pattern

  • Monday: 16:30 - 20:30
  • Tuesday: 16:30 - 20:30
  • Wednesday: 16:30 - 20:30
  • Thursday: 16:54 - 20:30
  • Friday: 16:54 - 20:30

Location: Vale Centre for Health and Care

Please note the salary is Pro Rata for part-time hours.

Key Responsibilities

You will provide an efficient, high-quality domestic service to patients and staff, following a specific schedule of work within designated areas. Your responsibilities will include cleaning clinical and non-clinical areas throughout the hospital, carrying out tasks such as wet mopping, vacuuming, emptying bins, replenishing supplies, and cleaning fixtures, furniture, and toilet/bathroom facilities.

The role requires a flexible approach to daily routines to ensure all assigned areas are maintained to a high standard.

You will use cleaning agents safely and economically in accordance with manufacturers' instructions and may be required to operate mechanical cleaning equipment. You will also be required to wear protective clothing supplied by the department and complete all daily and weekly sign-off sheets for your assigned areas of work.

Knowledge, Training, Qualifications and/or Experience Required to Do the Job

  • Knowledge of safe and effective cleaning practices.
  • Understanding of the safe and economical use of cleaning products and cleaning chemicals.
  • Ability to follow work schedules, procedures, and manufacturers' instructions.
  • Awareness of health and safety requirements, including the correct use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Ability to maintain accurate cleaning records and complete daily and weekly sign-off sheets.
  • Willingness and ability to undertake training in the use of mechanical cleaning equipment where required.
  • Flexible approach to work and the ability to adapt to changing priorities and service needs.
