The Role
You will provide a quality domestic service to the hospital or CHP premises, ensuring that a clean and safe environment is maintained for patients, staff and visitors following agreed cleaning work schedules, methods and procedures in accordance with NHS Scotland National Cleaning Specification and Healthcare Acquired Infection (HAI) Task Force Code of Practice.
Domestic assistants are required to rotate round all Wards, Clinical areas and depts within hospital.
May be required to provide a food and beverage service for patients in adherence with Food Safety Regulations.
This role does not meet the eligibility criteria for a or a NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde (NHSGGC) is unable to provide candidates or employees with a Certificate of Sponsorship (COS).
Duration, Location, and Working Pattern
- This is a permanent post working part-time hours (16.8)
- These hours will be worked:
- Monday: 09:00 - 12:30
- Tuesday: 09:00 - 12:30
- Wednesday: 09:00 - 12:30
- Thursday: 09:00 - 12:09
- Friday: 09:00 - 12:09
- You will be based at Vale of Leven Hospital, Main Street, Alexandria G83 OUA
- Please note the salary is Pro Rata for part-time hours.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide an efficient, high-quality domestic service to patients and staff, following a specific schedule of work within designated areas.
- Cleaning ward areas and both clinical and non-clinical locations.
- Carrying out tasks such as wet mopping, vacuuming, emptying bins, replenishing supplies, and cleaning fixtures, furniture, and toilet/bathroom facilities.
- Using cleaning agents safely and economically in accordance with manufacturers' instructions.
- Operating mechanical cleaning equipment where required.
- Wearing protective clothing supplied by the department.
- Completing all daily and weekly sign-off sheets for your assigned areas of work.

Knowledge, Training, Qualifications and/or Experience Required to do the Job
- Knowledge of safe and effective cleaning practices.
- Understanding of the safe and economical use of cleaning products and cleaning chemicals.
- Ability to follow work schedules, procedures, and manufacturers' instructions.
- Awareness of health and safety requirements, including the correct use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Ability to maintain accurate cleaning records and complete daily and weekly sign-off sheets.
- Willingness and ability to undertake training in the use of mechanical cleaning equipment where required.
- Flexible approach to work and the ability to adapt to changing priorities and service needs.
