We are looking for a reliable, hardworking and caring Domestic Cleaner to join our care home team. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining a high standard of cleanliness, hygiene and infection control throughout the care home, helping to provide a safe, comfortable and welcoming environment for our residents, visitors and staff.
Key Responsibilities
- Clean residents’ rooms, communal areas, corridors, lounges, dining areas, offices and other designated areas.
- Clean and disinfect bathrooms, toilets and other facilities to a high standard.
- Follow the care home’s cleaning schedules and procedures.
- Use cleaning products and equipment safely and correctly.
- Follow infection prevention and control procedures at all times.
- Dispose of waste safely and appropriately.
- Report any maintenance issues, hazards, damaged equipment or areas requiring attention.
- Maintain cleaning equipment and ensure supplies are stored safely.
- Respect residents’ privacy, dignity and personal belongings at all times.
- Work respectfully and professionally around residents, including those who may have additional care needs.
- Work closely with care and housekeeping staff to maintain a clean, safe and pleasant environment.
- Follow all relevant health and safety, COSHH and care home policies and procedures.
- Complete cleaning records and other relevant documentation as required.

Person Specification
Essential
- Previous cleaning experience, preferably within a care home, healthcare or similar environment.
- Good understanding of cleanliness, hygiene and infection control.
- Reliable, punctual and hardworking.
- Able to work independently and as part of a team.
- Good attention to detail.
- Able to follow instructions and cleaning procedures.
- Friendly, respectful and considerate towards elderly and vulnerable residents.
- Physically able to carry out cleaning duties safely.

Desirable
- Experience working in a residential or nursing care home.
- Knowledge of COSHH and safe use of cleaning chemicals.
- Infection control training or experience.
- Basic understanding of health and safety requirements.
