Job Summary

Our Donation Centre plays a pivotal role in the retail operation within Ayrshire Hospice. As a Donation Centre Operative, you will support the effective day-to-day operation of the Donation Centre, ensuring donated and new goods are received, processed, sorted and distributed efficiently to support our 8 charity shops and maximise income generation.

The role also provides a welcoming and professional service to members of the public when donating goods. You will act as the face of Ayrshire Hospice when dealing with members of the public which will require a level of empathy and understanding resulting in a loyal supporter base.

Main Responsibilities

• Receive and process donations brought in by donors in a respectful and kind manner. Ensuring that all members of the public are welcomed and receive a high level of customer service.
• Assist donors with unloading donations where appropriate and safe to do so.
• Ensure that all donations are processed in accordance with resale, recycle and disposal procedures while aiming to minimise unnecessary waste to maximise income and environmental value from all donations received.
• Identify suitable stock for distribution to multiple retail outlets (Shops, online trading etc) and prepare stock to be shipped to multiple outlets.
• Assist with the movement and delivery of donations, new goods etc to support the efficient flow of stock through the organisation.
• Communicate effectively with retail teams to support with the supply of stock to stores and develop an understanding of store requirements.
• Support the wider retail team with tasks and events when required.
• Maintain a safe working environment for both colleagues and volunteers within the Donation Centre adhering to Health & Safety regulations, trading standards and Ayrshire hospice policies and procedures.
• Represent Ayrshire Hospice in a positive manner in all aspects of the role.
