About the Job

  • Install, service, maintain, and repair a variety of industrial and commercial door systems.
  • Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive breakdown repairs.
  • Diagnose mechanical, electrical, and control system faults and implement effective repairs.
  • Ensure all work is completed safely, efficiently, and to a high standard.
  • Conduct site surveys and assessments prior to installations and repairs.
  • Complete service reports, maintenance records, and job documentation accurately.
  • Provide technical support and advice to customers regarding door operation and maintenance.
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations, company procedures, and industry standards.
  • Participate in an on-call rota where required.
  • Maintain company tools, equipment, and vehicles in good working order.

Engineers should have the ability to work on some or all of the following systems:

  • Roller shutter doors
  • Sectional overhead doors
  • High-speed doors
  • Fire-rated doors and shutters
  • Steel security doors
  • Folding and sliding industrial doors
  • Dock levellers and loading bay equipment
  • Automatic and powered industrial doors
  • Personnel and access control doors
  • Gates, barriers, and associated automation systems

Knowledge, Skills & Experience

Essential

  • Experience installing, servicing, and repairing industrial door systems.
  • Good mechanical and electrical fault-finding skills.
  • Ability to read technical drawings, wiring diagrams, and manufacturers' manuals.
  • Understanding of health and safety requirements and safe working practices.
  • Ability to work independently and manage workload effectively.
  • Strong customer service and communication skills.
  • Full UK driving licence.

Desirable

  • Electrical qualifications (e.g., 18th Edition, NVQ, City & Guilds or equivalent).
  • IPAF, PASMA, CSCS, or related industry certifications.
  • Experience with industrial door control systems and automation.
  • Knowledge of fire door compliance and testing requirements.
  • Manufacturer-specific training certifications.
