Job Opportunity: Door Fitter / Installer

Whitehouse Construction is a leading Civil Engineering SME as well as specialising in Property Flood Resilience (PFR) measures.

We are looking for a Door Fitter / Installer (from Derbyshire/Nottinghamshire/Leicestershire) to join our Property Flood Resilience Team on a permanent basis. Contracts are obtained Nationally.

The role involves installing specialist flood protection products to residential and commercial properties to reduce the risk of water ingress and improve flood resilience. Installations will typically include flood doors, flood barriers, glazed side lights (windows), sump pumps, and associated flood mitigation measures. The role requires strong joinery or construction skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work safely in occupied properties.

We will also require a ‘Door Fitters Mate’ to provide support to your role at each project you attend. So if you know of another individual who wishes to apply for this role as well as you, please contact us at careers@whc.ltd.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
