Role Description

The Drafter is a full-time, on-site role based in Croydon, responsible for producing accurate technical drawings and plans for bespoke joinery projects. Day-to-day tasks include:

  • Creating detailed CAD drawings from design concepts
  • Interpreting architectural and design specifications
  • Preparing clear documentation for the workshop and installation teams
  • Coordinating with designers, project managers, and joiners to ensure drawings reflect client requirements, material constraints, and manufacturing capabilities
  • Updating drawings based on feedback
  • Maintaining drawing standards and files
  • Supporting continuous improvement of drafting processes

Qualifications

  • Strong technical drawing and CAD skills (e.g., AutoCAD, similar drafting software) for joinery or related fields
  • Skills in reading and interpreting architectural plans, specifications, and construction details
  • Skills in dimensional accuracy, attention to detail, and quality checking of drawings before release
  • Skills in communicating effectively with workshop, design, and project teams to resolve design and production queries
  • Basic knowledge of joinery materials, hardware, and manufacturing processes; experience with CNC workflows is beneficial
  • Relevant vocational training or a qualification in drafting, design, engineering, or a related discipline is preferred
  • Previous experience in a joinery, furniture, or construction environment is advantageous
  • Ability to work on-site in Croydon, manage multiple projects, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced workshop setting
