Role Description
The Draftsperson is a full-time on-site role based in Stansted Mountfitchet, working closely with engineers and production teams to create accurate technical drawings and documentation. Day-to-day responsibilities include:

- Preparing detailed CAD models and drawings for machined, fabricated, and welded components
- Ensuring that all designs meet specification, quality, and safety standards
- Interpreting customer requirements
- Collaborating on design solutions
- Updating drawings to reflect engineering changes
- Supporting the smooth transition from design to manufacture
- Maintaining drawing libraries
- Preparing bills of materials
- Contributing to continuous improvement initiatives in drawing standards and workflows

This position requires careful attention to detail, effective communication, and a practical understanding of precision engineering and manufacturing processes.
Qualifications
- Strong CAD skills (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD or similar) and experience producing detailed 2D and 3D technical drawings for machined and fabricated parts.
- Knowledge of engineering principles, tolerances, GD&T, and manufacturing processes such as CNC machining, sheet metal work, and welding.
- Ability to interpret engineering specifications, standards, and customer requirements, and translate them into clear, accurate drawings and documentation.
- Attention to detail in checking, revising, and maintaining drawing records, bills of materials, and related technical documentation.
- Effective collaboration skills to work with engineers, production teams, and quality staff, and to communicate clearly in writing and in person.
- Proficiency with MS Office or similar tools for documentation, reports, and data management.
- Relevant technical qualification in mechanical engineering, drafting, or a closely related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- Experience in aerospace, defence, or other high-precision manufacturing environments is an advantage.
- Ability to work on-site full time, manage multiple projects, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced production setting.
