Drainage Engineer – Commercial & Reactive

Location: London & South East
Employment: Full-time
Experience: Minimum 1 year's drainage engineering experience
Driving Licence: Full UK driving licence essential

About the Company

We are a small, established drainage and plumbing company operating throughout London and the South East. We work with a strong portfolio of commercial clients, national businesses, estate agents, and local authorities, including established planned preventative maintenance contracts. We provide complete drainage and plumbing solutions 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, covering planned maintenance, reactive works, and emergency call-outs. We are looking for a reliable, competent, and hardworking Drainage Engineer to join our team.

The Role

This is a varied, hands-on position covering commercial, planned maintenance, and emergency drainage work across London and the South East. You will be expected to work independently, diagnose problems, carry out works to a high standard, and represent the company professionally when dealing with customers and site contacts. Typical work includes:

  • Drain unblocking and clearance
  • High-pressure water jetting
  • CCTV drainage surveys
  • Pipe cleaning
  • Heavy descaling
  • Grease trap maintenance
  • Pump maintenance
  • No-dig pipe repairs
  • Excavation and pipe repairs
  • Commercial PPM work
  • Emergency drainage call-outs
  • Drainage fault finding and diagnosis
  • Use of specialist drainage equipment
  • Towable tanker operations
  • Completing job sheets, reports, and CCTV documentation
  • Liaising with customers, site managers, and other contractors

Essential Requirements

  • Minimum 1 year's experience working as a drainage engineer
  • Full UK driving licence
  • Practical experience in drainage unblocking
  • Good understanding of drainage systems
  • Able to work independently and use your own initiative
  • Reliable, punctual, and dependable
  • Good problem-solving skills
  • Professional approach to customers and colleagues
  • Physically capable of carrying out demanding drainage work
  • Willing to work weekends, late nights, and early mornings
  • Based within a reasonable commuting distance of our operating area

Desirable Experience

Experience in any of the following would be advantageous:

Working Hours

We operate a 24/7, 365-day service, so flexibility is essential. The nature of our work means that weekend, late-night, early-morning, and emergency call-out work is regularly required. There is significant opportunity for additional work and increased earnings for engineers who are willing and able to take on out-of-hours and emergency work. This is not a typical Monday–Friday, 9–5 position. We are looking for someone who understands the demands of the drainage industry and is prepared to work hard as required.
