Role Description

The Drainage Engineer role is a full-time, on-site position based in Sussex, WI. In this role, the engineer inspects, designs, and maintains drainage systems and related infrastructure, including stormwater and wastewater assets. Day-to-day tasks include assessing site conditions, preparing drainage designs, conducting calculations for flood risk and water resource management, and supporting installation, repair, and remediation activities. The engineer collaborates with project managers, field technicians, and clients to develop practical solutions, ensure regulatory compliance, and resolve drainage issues efficiently. The role also involves preparing technical reports, reviewing survey data, and contributing to continuous improvement of processes and standards.

  • Demonstrated experience in assessing Flood Risk and applying Water Resource Management principles to drainage projects.
  • Proficiency in Stormwater management, including planning, design, and maintenance of stormwater control measures.
  • Hands-on knowledge of Drainage Systems operation, inspection, troubleshooting, and rehabilitation.
  • Ability to develop and review Drainage Design drawings, calculations, and specifications for residential, commercial, or municipal projects.
  • Relevant technical background, such as a degree or vocational qualification in civil engineering, environmental engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Familiarity with applicable drainage and environmental regulations, standards, and permitting processes.
  • Competence with CAD or drainage modeling software and standard office productivity tools.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills, with the ability to work safely on-site and in varying weather conditions.
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to travel locally to project sites as needed.
