Criterion Capital is seeking an experienced and reliable Drainage Engineer to join our team and support the maintenance and delivery of drainage works across our property and construction projects.
The role will involve carrying out a range of drainage works, including drain unblocking, high-pressure water jetting, fault finding and underground pipe repairs. The successful candidate will be hands-on, technically capable and comfortable working across different sites and responding to a range of drainage issues.
The Role
The Drainage Engineer will be responsible for carrying out drainage works safely, efficiently and to a high standard, working closely with site teams, contractors and other engineers to identify and resolve drainage issues.
Key Responsibilities Include:
- Carry out drainage works across residential, commercial and construction sites.
- Diagnose and resolve drainage blockages, faults and other issues.
- Carry out drain unblocking using appropriate equipment and techniques.
- Undertake high-pressure water jetting to clear and maintain drainage systems.
- Identify faults within drainage systems and determine appropriate remedial solutions.
- Carry out underground pipe repairs and associated drainage works.
- Inspect drainage systems and identify potential defects or issues requiring further investigation.
- Work safely around underground services, drainage systems and active construction environments.
- Liaise with Site Managers, Project Managers and other members of the project team to coordinate works and resolve issues.
- Provide clear updates on completed works, outstanding issues and any additional requirements.
- Ensure tools and equipment are maintained and used correctly.
- Complete relevant documentation and records following works.
- Comply with all relevant health and safety requirements, site procedures and company standards.
- Work independently where required while also supporting the wider site and maintenance teams.
- Travel between project and property sites as required.

- Minimum 3 years' experience working in drainage.
- NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Drainage, Civil Engineering, Plumbing or an equivalent qualification.
- High Pressure Water Jetting qualification.
- Proven experience in drain unblocking and high-pressure jetting.
- Experience in drainage fault finding and diagnosing issues.
- Practical experience carrying out underground pipe repairs.
- Good understanding of drainage systems, pipework and associated equipment.
- Strong practical and problem-solving skills.
- Good attention to detail and a methodical approach to identifying and resolving faults.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively with site teams, contractors and other stakeholders.
- Able to work independently and manage tasks safely and efficiently.
- Reliable, proactive and willing to respond to urgent drainage issues when required.
