Role Details
- Department: Technical Operations
- Reports to: Workshop Manager
- Location: Wakefield workshop, with regular UK travel and occasional international travel
- Contract type: Full-time
- Salary: £34,000 - £38,500, plus overtime and company van
- Working pattern: Operationally flexible, including evenings, weekends and overnight stays where required

About the Role
At Boxbar, we believe in delivering perfect dispense quality at speed. Our Draught Dispense Technicians play an important role in making that happen.
You will help build, test and refurbish Boxbar machines and draught dispense systems at our Wakefield workshop. You will also travel to customer venues to support installations, commissioning, servicing, maintenance and repairs. Working alongside experienced colleagues and technical leads, you will help ensure our equipment is installed correctly, operates reliably and consistently delivers excellent drinks quality.
This is a hands-on position suited to someone with practical draught dispense, mechanical, electrical or technical experience who enjoys solving problems and working across workshop and customer-site environments.
Key Responsibilities
Workshop Builds and Preparation
- Assemble, build and test draught dispense systems and Boxbar equipment.
- Refurbish and prepare machines for installation or deployment.
- Follow technical instructions, build specifications and quality standards.
- Complete pre-deployment checks and identify any faults or missing components.
- Maintain a clean, safe and organised workshop environment.
Installation and Commissioning
- Support the installation of draught dispense equipment at venues, stadiums, arenas and hospitality locations.
- Install and connect dispense components, pipework, cooling equipment and related systems.
- Commission equipment to ensure consistent drinks quality from keg to tap.
- Complete system testing before customer handover.
- Work with colleagues, contractors and venue teams to deliver installations safely and efficiently.

Maintenance and Servicing
- Carry out planned maintenance and servicing of Boxbar and draught dispense equipment.
- Diagnose and resolve mechanical, electrical and dispense-related faults.
- Identify signs of wear, damage or reliability issues before they become more serious.
- Complete repairs to a high standard and minimise repeat service visits.
- Escalate complex technical issues to the Workshop Manager or Technical Lead where appropriate.
Customer and Venue Support
- Represent Boxbar professionally while working at customer locations.
- Explain the correct operation, cleaning and basic care of installed systems.
- Provide practical guidance to venue teams to help maintain dispense quality.
- Communicate clearly with clients and internal teams regarding progress, faults and completed work.
- Help deliver a positive and reliable experience for Boxbar’s customers and partners.
Documentation and Compliance
- Complete installation reports, service records, job sheets and technical documentation accurately.
- Record equipment faults, repairs, parts used and follow-up actions.
- Follow Boxbar’s health and safety procedures and customer-site requirements.
- Ensure tools, equipment and company vehicles are used safely and responsibly.
- Raise risks, delays or technical concerns promptly with the relevant manager.
Continuous Improvement
- Share practical ideas that could improve builds, installations, servicing or reliability.
- Support the development of clearer workshop and field processes.
- Apply lessons learned from previous installations and service visits.
- Take part in relevant technical, product and health and safety training.

Skills and Experience
Essential Experience
- Previous experience working with draught dispense systems, beverage equipment, mechanical installations, plumbing, refrigeration, electrical equipment or a related technical field.
- Practical experience assembling, installing, maintaining or repairing equipment.
- Good mechanical aptitude and confidence using hand and power tools.
- Ability to follow technical instructions, diagrams or schematics.
- Good problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to communicate professionally with customers, venue teams and colleagues.
- Willingness to travel throughout the UK and occasionally internationally.
- Full UK driving licence.
Desirable Experience
- Experience installing or servicing beer and draught dispense systems.
- Knowledge of keg-to-tap systems, cooling equipment, pumps, gas systems and dispense components.
- Experience working in stadiums, arenas, festivals, hospitality venues or live event environments.
- Basic electrical fault-finding experience.
- Experience completing field-service or installation documentation.
- Relevant technical, electrical, mechanical, plumbing or refrigeration qualifications.
- Cellar management or drinks-quality experience.
