Job Summary
In this role, you will be a key member of our Transport Team, delivering a friendly, prompt, and professional service on behalf of Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust.
You will support our patients, staff, and services in a variety of important ways. This may include transporting urgent medical samples for testing, taking patients home following their hospital stay, assisting staff travel between hospital sites, or transporting waste to help maintain a safe and clean hospital environment. This is a varied and essential role that directly supports patient care and the smooth running of our hospitals.
Applicants Must Have
- Clean driver licence
- CPC Card
- 7.5-Ton licence
- Good communication and interpersonal skills
- Strong geographical knowledge of Leeds and surrounding areas, with some nationwide travel
- The ability to work effectively in a service-focused environment
Please note, this role includes a significant manual handling element, including the collection and transportation of bulk items.
The demands on the Transport Team are dynamic and fast-paced, so a flexible and adaptable approach to work is essential.

What You Will Bring To The Role
- A full, clean driving licence
- An understanding that this post is subject to a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check
- Relevant formal qualifications, such as a Transport NVQ, GCSEs, or equivalent
- Substantial professional driving experience, ideally in a fast-paced or service-led environment
- Experience of working in a customer-focused role, delivering a high standard of service
- The ability to communicate clearly and professionally, both verbally and in writing, using radio, telephone, and IT systems
- A working knowledge and understanding of service users’ needs and requirements, with a compassionate and respectful approach
- The ability to remain flexible and adaptable, responding effectively to changing demands that may impact patient care
- Previous experience working within the NHS or healthcare setting (desirable)
