YOUR ROLE

Join our team in Bristol as a Driver Apprentice. You will gain both a Class 1 and Class 2 license alongside your driver CPC. You will also learn valuable life skills to help you with your future career within Transport and Logistics.

WHAT ARE YOU GOING TO DO?

Whilst starting up as a driver, you will be paired up with a more experienced team member who will help you develop a further understanding of the job responsibilities and expectations. Whilst working towards completing your Class 1 and 2 licenses, you will become a crucial part of the site’s Ground & Rail Contract.

You can expect to complete customer deliveries and ensure goods are delivered to the correct locations with accurate completion of associated paperwork. You will also be responsible for ensuring daily vehicle checks are carried out, and any defects are reported and remedied ensuring full compliance.

You will complete these tasks whilst working through the apprenticeship, at around the 12-month mark, your apprenticeship will be completed and you will be eligible to apply for our permanent full-time positions, which also means an increase in salary.

Your shift is expected to start at roughly 06:00 and will be between 8-10 hours long. Once onboarded as a Class 1 Driver, you can expect to make on average 8-10 drops per shift, some of which are time sensitive. You will be delivering a variety of customer products which cover a wide range of locations across the South West and Wales.

The apprenticeship will start at £28,000, subject to review after completion of apprenticeship.

WHAT ARE WE LOOKING FOR?

To qualify for apprenticeship funding, applicants must have resided in the UK for more than 3 consecutive years. You also must fit the following criteria:

  • Must hold a full UK Driving License
  • No points on your license
  • Flexibility when it comes to shift work
  • Willingness to take on new challenges and learn
  • Grades C/4 or above in Math’s and English is desirable but not essential. If you do not currently have the required grades, you’ll work towards acquiring these as part of your apprenticeship.
