£13.10 per hour
Our Hospital Sterile Services Unit (HSSU) transports sterile and disinfected surgical equipment to our local hospital network. We are seeking a Bank Driver to join our Hospital Sterile Services Unit Team in Papworth Everard, CB23 3GY, to work on an adhoc basis. What we are looking for:
Based in our state of the art Sterile Services Unit, your work will be varied, stimulating and will involve the Delivery of Surgical Instruments to our Nuffield Hospitals and Third Party customers. By joining us you’ll be making a significant contribution to Patient Safety in both Private and NHS Hospitals.
- Driving our 7.5T vehicles across the South and East of England to collect and deliver medical instrumentation.
- Act as an ambassador for the unit being the first point of contact for customers.
- Ensure all tachograph records are maintained correctly.
- To receive and check delivery of medical devices from the customer.
- Good Record keeping following all Quality records in place.
- Managing own time according to Driver Regulations.

What do you need?
- Hold a full driving licence, including a C1 entitlement, which allows you to drive vehicles up to 7.5 tonnes Gross Vehicle Weight (GVW).
- Have basic knowledge of current driver hour legislation and preferably hold a Driver digital tachograph card.
- Be comfortable with manual handling - movement of transport trolleys weighing upwards of 250kg.
- A basic standard of general education with proven literacy and numeracy.
- Evidence of previous sterile services training is an advantage but not essential – full training will be provided.
- Good communication skills, verbal and written, and basic computer literacy.
- Attention to detail and an overarching desire to deliver a high quality service.
Shift information
The role will involve working early morning/evenings and Saturdays, so applicants need to be flexible with regards to working hours.
Shifts operate between the hours of 02:00 - 21:00 Monday to Friday with varying shift times on Saturdays according to the requirements of the hospitals.
As a Bank Worker, you’ll be called on to provide cover during periods of sickness, holidays or increased workload. We’ll give you a uniform and personal protective equipment. You won’t be classified as an employee, so there’ll be no fixed working pattern, or entitlement to guaranteed or continuous employment.
