Job Description
JOB PURPOSE
To Drive, Operate and Maintain OTM as required.
Maximise machine availability.
Carry out Stone-Loading, Daily Maintenance, Calibrations as and when required on the Stoneblower fleet.
KEY RESULT AREAS
- Drive the OTM on NWR infrastructure and within possessions.
- Daily VMI checks completed within required timeframe.
- Performance of machine following repair and maintenance tasks.
- Condition of machine.
- 5S on machine and van.
- Quality of documentation

Qualifications
Mandatory Qualifications:
- Track safety qualification (PTS, DP)
- Manual handling
- Emergency first aid
- Fire awareness
- Health & Safety
Essential Competencies:
- Psychometric test and TDL
- Functional Skills at Level 2 (Intermediate): communication, planning, organising, prioritising, and safety awareness
- Technical Skills at Level 1 (Basic): hydraulic, electrical, pneumatic, and mechanical systems; calibration and fault finding
- IT literate with basic Microsoft systems knowledge
- Risk assessment and current maintenance standards competency

Preferred Experience:
- Mechanical, electrical, or maintenance engineering background, or minimum two years OTM experience
- Knowledge of rail plant operating systems

RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES
- Report any defects found on machine & carry out repairs within required competency level for the role, as directed.
- Complete tasks in accordance with the Vehicle Maintenance Instruction (VMI)
- Assist Stoneblower Service Technician with required tasks.
- To carry out duties in line with company policies & procedures & work instructions.
- Ensure working environment is maintained as required by 5S.
- Inform supervisor of any issues / problems in a timely manner, which are outside your remit of control.
- Route learn in specific working areas as required.
- Operate machine for maintenance purposes.
- Ensure regularly updated & compliant with company policies & procedures.
- Awareness of company communication, i.e., e-mails, etc.
- Be responsible for the care of company assets in the individual’s possession.
- To undertake technical skills or non-technical skills training as required.
- Ensure compliance with competence assessment systems.
- Carry out assessing of staff as required and to plan if applicable
- Liaise with customer and contractors as required
- Method statements and risk assessments must be complied with
- Update and carry out risk assessments as required
- Maintain regular contact with control centre
- Maintain regular contact with Machine manager
- Maintain regular communication with team members
- Work to roster as required
- Provide reports / information as required by machine manager & ROMs
- Partake in competence assessments
- Comply with all statutory and company policies and procedures
- To undertake training on Multiple types OTMs/Traction units as required
- To ensure all machine defects are reported and rectified
- To operate OTM in line with procedures
- Complete all necessary documentation
- Ensure machine is maintained to maintenance schedule
- Work to 5s regime
- To ensure company vehicle is kept to required standards
- To communicate with safety rep
- To learn and maintain routes as identified by the Machine Manager
- To liaise with and respond to requests from Driver Standards Manager
- Report spare parts used to aid management of machine stock levels
- To book hotels when lodging is required.
- Flexibility to travel and lodge as required by the company.

- Report all, and assist with investigating relevant accidents, incidents and near misses
