Role Description
The Driver Porter is a full-time, on-site role based in Sawston, responsible for safely transporting laboratory equipment, instruments, and consumables between sites. Day-to-day tasks include:

The role involves working closely with project teams and clients on-site, supporting laboratory moves, relocations, and deliveries while maintaining accurate documentation and adhering to safety and compliance procedures. The Driver Porter will also assist with handling, positioning, and basic preparation of equipment in laboratories, and act as a courteous point of contact for customers.
Flexibility to work varied hours, follow detailed instructions, and uphold high standards of cleanliness, security, and professionalism is essential.
Qualifications
- Communication skills, including clear verbal communication and the ability to follow and relay instructions accurately.
- Customer Service skills, with a focus on professionalism, responsiveness, and building positive relationships with clients and colleagues.
- Gatekeeper-related skills, such as managing access to sensitive areas, monitoring movements of equipment, and upholding security protocols.
- Training and Education-related skills, including willingness to undertake role-specific training and apply health and safety guidance consistently.
- A valid UK driving license with a good driving record; experience driving vans or light commercial vehicles is highly beneficial.
- Ability to perform manual handling tasks safely, including lifting, carrying, and maneuvering laboratory equipment and consumables.
- Attention to detail and reliability in completing delivery records, checklists, and other documentation.
- Previous experience in logistics, removals, facilities, or laboratory support is an advantage but not essential.
- Commitment to safe working practices, confidentiality, and compliance with relevant regulatory and company policies.
