About The Role

Based in Edinburgh, this Driver Street Cleaner position with Pertemps Edinburgh Contracts supports the cleansing and upkeep of public areas across the city. The dual role involves operating a cage vehicle for waste collection and disposal, alongside hands-on street cleansing duties.

Responsibilities include:

  • Driving designated routes safely
  • Performing daily vehicle checks
  • Reporting defects per health and safety procedures

Offering £14.51 to £16.23 per hour, this temporary, full-time contract provides either a 4-on-4-off pattern (06:00-17:02 or 09:00-20:02) or Monday to Friday 07:00-14:57. Immediate starts are available. Candidates need a valid driving licence and a strong commitment to maintaining Edinburgh's environment.

Pay Rate: £14.51 - £16.23 per hour

Hours of Work: 4 days on 4 days off 06.00-17.02/09.00-20.02 (45 minute break) OR Monday to Friday 07:00 – 14:57 (45-minute break)

The Role

You will support the cleansing and upkeep of Edinburgh’s streets and public areas whilst also operating a cage vehicle to assist with waste collection and disposal.

This is a dual-role position combining driving responsibilities with hands-on street cleansing duties.


Duties Include (but Are Not Limited To)

  • Driving a cage vehicle safely and responsibly across designated routes
  • Carrying out daily vehicle checks and reporting defects in line with health & safety procedures
  • Transporting collected waste to disposal sites
  • Cleaning and servicing city streets and public spaces
  • Sweeping, brushing, and removing leaves and debris
  • Removing weeds from pavements and public areas using manual tools
  • Emptying public litter and waste bins
  • Safe collection, handling, and disposal of waste materials
  • Handling physically demanding tasks including lifting, bending, and repetitive movements
  • Walking long distances throughout shifts
  • Occasional interaction with members of the public
  • Dealing with unpleasant waste, including bodily fluids where required

What To Expect

  • A physically intensive role involving heavy lifting and regular bending/kneeling
