Job Scope
This role is in support of Cencora's wholesale distribution services in Europe operating through our Alliance Healthcare business.
We have an exciting opportunity for a Driver Team Manager to join the team at Alliance Healthcare UK's new, next-generation Central Logistics Centre (CLC) in Birmingham. You will play a pivotal role in this world-class, game-changing facility. Designed with advanced automation and cutting-edge robotics, the CLC is set to redefine how Alliance Healthcare manages and delivers medical, health and beauty products to our customers across the UK.
- Location: Birmingham, B24 8TG
- Salary: Circa £39,000 per annum (depending on experience)
- Shift: 10 am - 6 pm
- Hours: 40 hours per week.
Principal Accountabilities
Team Leadership
- Lead, develop and motivate the transport team, ensuring high levels of engagement, performance, inclusion and accountability.
- Manage staffing and driver resource planning to maintain operational continuity, provide performance feedback, and support ongoing development.
Transport Operations & Compliance
- Oversee the safe, efficient and compliant operation of the transport function, including a mixed fleet of LGVs and LCVs across multiple locations.
- Ensure full compliance with transport legislation, operator licence requirements, driver hours regulations, tachograph rules, company policies and audit standards.
- Manage temperature-controlled distribution activities, ensuring all regulatory, quality and operational requirements are met.
Fleet & Performance Management
- Ensure fleet maintenance, vehicle records, compliance documentation and KPI reporting are completed accurately and within required timescales.
- Monitor operational performance and implement corrective actions to address compliance, service or efficiency issues.

- Deliver high levels of customer service by ensuring transport activities meet agreed service standards and customer expectations.
- Build effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders, resolving operational issues and driving service improvements.
Health, Safety & Continuous Improvement
- Lead the transport Health & Safety agenda, promoting a strong safety culture through training, monitoring, risk assessment and compliance reviews.
- Identify and implement opportunities to improve operational efficiency, reduce costs and enhance transport performance through continuous improvement initiatives.
Budget & Operational Leadership
- Manage transport operating costs within budget while maintaining service, safety and compliance standards.
- Act as the site transport lead, taking ownership of day-to-day operations and making informed decisions to ensure effective business performance.
Skills & Experience Required
- Proven experience managing transport operations, including remote teams and mixed LGV/LCV fleets.
- Strong knowledge of UK transport legislation, driver and vehicle compliance, health & safety, and regulated operating environments.
- Experience leading compliant, temperature-controlled transport and logistics operations, with responsibility for site transport performance.
- Demonstrated ability to drive operational efficiency, continuous improvement, and achievement of transport KPIs and service standards.
- Effective leadership skills with experience developing teams, conducting performance reviews, and fostering a positive safety culture.
- Strong understanding of transport planning, fleet management, SOPs, and contractual requirements within a logistics environment.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate across internal and external partners.
- Able to prioritise workloads, make sound decisions under pressure, and consistently deliver results to tight deadlines.
- Proficient in Microsoft 365 applications, including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Teams.
- Transport Manager CPC qualified, or willing to work towards achieving the qualification
