We at IKEA Leeds have exciting opportunities for Driver's Mates to join our growing team.
Are you motivated, able to perform physical duties, and ready for a role that keeps you moving throughout the day—including heavy lifting?
As a Driver Mate you will support Drivers, ensuring the on-time delivery to customers, whilst delivering a high level of service. All successful applicants will complete two weeks of IKEA training, followed by one week of shadowing, before beginning Driver's Mates duties.
WHAT WE OFFER
- The Start Date of employment will be 18th October 2026
- Hourly rate of £13.45.
- 39 Hours per week, this role has a rolling shift pattern of 4 days working and 2 days per week off, including weekends. Working shifts between the hours of 06:30am - 16:30pm, with expectation to complete deliveries where delays may occur.

WHAT YOU'LL NEED TO HAVE
- You are motivated to deliver a great customer experience and are comfortable taking action when unexpected problems come up.
- You have the ability to carry out physical tasks and maintain an upbeat mindset throughout the day.
- You have a good understanding of dynamic risk assessments, take Health & Safety seriously, and are skilled at assessing and managing risks within your working environment.
- Great communication skills, with the ability to interact with customers in person and over the phone, providing clear information and delivering a professional, reliable service at every stage of the delivery.
WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING DAY TO DAY
- You will support the Driver to complete vehicle safety checks and take appropriate action.
- You’ll safely and efficiently load and unload goods for up to three delivery runs per day, keeping the van organised and ensuring each route is prepared to meet allocated delivery times, with loads of up to 1.4 tonnes.
- You will deliver goods to customer’s homes and take them into a nominated room, carrying out risk assessments on location to prevent injury and damage to property.
- Gather data from previous deliveries and share it with the office team where necessary to help enhance and improve future deliveries.
