Job Title: Driver's Mate
Location: Unit 6, 30 Chartwell Road, Lancing Business Park, BN15 8TU
Salary: £31,473 annually (pro-rata)
Working Hours: Full-time

Recorra is a leading circular economy company, providing services for recycling, data destruction and office supplies in London and the South East. We are born environmentalists, formed by Friends of the Earth in 1988 and now operating as an independent commercial organisation.

The Role:
As a Driver's Mate, you'll work alongside one of our drivers, supporting daily collections of recycling and waste materials from businesses across Brighton and the surrounding areas.

The role is physically demanding and involves loading materials onto the vehicle throughout the day. Paper is often collected in sacks weighing approximately 15-25kg, and you will regularly move wheeled bins and other recyclable materials.
Please note: this role requires frequent heavy lifting and a good level of physical fitness.
At the end of each shift, collected materials are returned to our operational site in Lancing for processing. On occasion, you may be asked to assist with offloading activities.
Responsibilities:
- Support the Driver with the safe and efficient collection of recycling and waste materials from customer sites.
- Load and unload recyclable materials, including sacks, bins and other containers, ensuring all handling is carried out safely.
- Deliver excellent customer service during collections, acting as a professional representative of Recorra.
- Follow all Health & Safety procedures and contribute to maintaining a safe working environment for colleagues and customers.
- Assist with vehicle checks, route completion and occasional offloading activities at the Lancing depot.

About you:
We're looking for people who are reliable, hardworking and enjoy working as part of a team.
- A good understanding of Brighton and surrounding areas (desirable)
- A strong work ethic and willingness to work outdoors in all weather conditions
- A good level of physical fitness, as the role involves regular lifting, loading and moving of recyclable materials
- Excellent customer service skills and a polite, professional manner
- The ability to work effectively as part of a team
- A positive attitude and commitment to health and safety
