Job Introduction

Job Title: Driver - HertsLynx Drivers

Starting Salary: £13.52 per hour progressing to £13.73 an hour

Hours: 37 - Please note this role involves evening and weekend working

Location: Hertfordshire - various locations

Contract Type: Permanent/Variable

Directorate: Growth & Environment

HertsLynx, is Hertfordshire’s on-demand bus service, providing flexible transport in rural and less well-served areas.

Passengers book journeys via an app, website, or phone rather than using fixed routes or timetables.

The service groups bookings together to plan efficient routes in real time.

HertsLynx improves accessibility, reduces car dependency, and makes better use of public transport resources.

Essential Criteria

  • A full, unrestricted D1 licence is essential and experience driving both manual and automatic vehicles.
  • A confident and safe driver with empathetic and professional approach.
  • Comfortable working independently and following scheduled routes.
  • Reliable, customer focused and committed to helping residents in the community.
  • Reliable, punctual and able to work independently to assigned shifts and timings.
  • Willingness to undertake mandatory training, including moving & handling, safeguarding and first aid.
  • Driving assessment required.

Driving Required

The ability to converse at ease with members of the public and provide advice in accurate spoken English is essential for the post (for those whose language is a signed language the provision of a sign language interpreter who speaks English to the necessary standard of fluency will be required).
