Company Description
The School of Rhythm - Let's Drum! is a music school specializing in drum tuition, established in 2001 in South East London, Forest Hill (SE23) by Dominique Pizzinat. Originally known as The Forest Hill Drum School, the school has expanded its drum studios to Penge (SE20), providing high-quality drum education to students of various skill levels. With a passion for music and teaching, the school focuses on fostering creativity, technical skill, and enthusiasm for drumming.
Role Description
The vacancy is for a Drum Teacher, working weekly on Fridays 2-8 pm in our studio located in SE20 - Penge - London.
The Drum Teacher will deliver personalized drum lessons to students of varying skill levels, focusing mainly on techniques, musicality, sight reading, and preparation for the grades 1-8 of Trinity College and Rock School. Accent must be put on developing the innate creativity of each individual, above all in making each lesson truly fun.

The role includes preparing lesson plans, evaluating students’ progress, and fostering a positive and motivating learning environment. Additionally, the Drum Teacher will fulfill specific administrative duties related to students' schedules and homework guidance. A fluent and rapid communication line with the school's management, via text, phone, and emails, is a must.

Qualifications
- Fluent English speaking
- Solid foundation and knowledge in drumming and live experience
- You must be an active performer, not only a teacher. We will support your availability for gigs, within reason, providing you follow our "teacher's replacement protocol" when you have to be replaced.
- You must love teaching children from a very young age as well as adults (no age limit), and be comfortable with the idea of teaching individually or in small groups on electronic and acoustic drum kits.
- Ability to inspire, motivate, and support students of all ages and skill levels including neurodiverse.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Relevant certifications or a degree in music is a big plus
- Proficiency in managing class schedules and lesson plans as per our school's internal policies. You must understand that you'll be part of a team working together toward a common purpose and that if you are not able to follow the rules of the game, this position is not for you.
- You must be a team player, prompt to inter-relate with the other drum teachers and the admin section of the school when necessary. Your speed of communication via phone, text, or email with the management is an essential element in you securing your position.
- Fun is the motto and seriousness is a no-no. Our students want to have fun. Your job is to turn them into happy drummers.
