The Music Learning Collective (MLC) is a Community Interest Company based in the East Midlands, focused on providing high-quality music education. Since 2007, MLC has supported thousands of learners across the United Kingdom, France, Italy, and other locations. Teachers deliver lessons in MLC centres, as well as in schools, colleges, and universities, supported by a dedicated online education platform. The organisation supports musicians at every stage of their journey and emphasises an engaging, enjoyable learning experience.

Role Description

This is a contract, on-site Drum Teacher role based in West Bridgford. The Drum Teacher will plan and deliver drum lessons to learners of varying ages and skill levels, using a structured curriculum aligned with MLC’s educational standards. Day-to-day tasks include preparing lesson materials, teaching individual and small group sessions, assessing student progress, and providing constructive feedback. The role also involves collaborating with other music educators, maintaining accurate records of attendance and achievement, and contributing to a positive, inclusive, and fun learning environment.

  • Strong foundation in Music Theory and general Music knowledge relevant to drum instruction.
  • Demonstrated Music Performance skills, particularly on the Drum Kit.
  • Experience or training in Music Education, including lesson planning and student assessment.
  • Ability to teach a range of styles and techniques to beginners through advanced students.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to support diverse learners.
  • Experience teaching in group and one-to-one settings; prior work in schools or community programs is beneficial.
  • Relevant music teaching certifications or qualifications are an advantage.
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of learners, including willingness to undergo necessary background checks.
