The role
We’re looking for enthusiastic, experienced Dutch teachers to join our Foreign Languages team from November. You’ll teach face-to-face adult group classes:
- Thursday evenings: 18:30–20:30, starting November 2026
- Additional opportunities: potential daytime lessons from January 2027
What you’ll do
- Deliver high-quality, communicative Dutch lessons to adult learners
- Plan engaging lessons aligned with IH syllabi and suited to learners’ levels, needs, and expectations
- Monitor progress, give clear, constructive feedback, and guide students on how to improve inside and outside class
- Build a positive, inclusive classroom where all students take part fairly and equally
- Collaborate with colleagues to maintain high academic standards
- Keep class registers up to date on SchoolWorks and update the department SharePoint folder with a work-done record
- Advise students on their progress, level changes, and next course of study
- Follow IH London policies, the IH Code of Professional Conduct, and safeguarding procedures
- Take part in ongoing professional development, including teacher development meetings
Essential requirements
- Native or near-native proficiency in Dutch
- Strong English communication skills
- Recognised teaching qualification in Dutch
- Minimum 3 years’ experience teaching groups of adult learners
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent level 6 qualification
- Right to work in the UK and currently UK-based
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to work flexibly and as part of a team
- Ability to organise your workload and take initiative, working autonomously
- Satisfactory enhanced DBS check
- Available to teach Thursday evenings (18:30–20:30) from November 2026
Desirable
- Degree in Dutch language education, languages, or applied linguistics
- Familiarity with the CEFR and Dutch proficiency examinations (e.g. CNaVT, Staatsexamen NT2)
- Availability for daytime lessons from January 2027

Recruitment Process
Shortlisted candidates will be invited to attend an in-person interview at our Covent Garden school during the week commencing 19th October 2026, which includes:
- A short demo lesson
- A formal interview
This is a part-time, casual (zero-hours) role. Hours are not guaranteed and will vary depending on business needs. You’ll be offered teaching assignments as they arise, and we’ll confirm the required hours for each assignment in advance.
