We have an exciting opportunity for two enthusiastic, motivated, and customer-focused Duty Managers to join our established Leisure Services Management Team at Dawley Sports & Leisure Centre.

This is more than just a Duty Manager role. It is a unique opportunity to play a key part in the future of leisure provision in Telford and Wrekin. Successful candidates will initially support the operation and development of our existing facilities at Dawley whilst also becoming part of the journey towards the opening of the brand-new Captain Matthew Webb Sports & Leisure Centre, a state-of-the-art leisure facility due to open in Summer 2027.

As a Duty Manager, you will gain invaluable experience contributing to service development, operational planning, team culture, customer experience initiatives, and programming that will help shape one of the borough’s most exciting new leisure facilities.

As a member of the Leisure Management Team, you will be responsible for ensuring the safe, efficient, and effective operation of the centre. You will lead by example, creating a welcoming environment for customers whilst supporting and motivating front-line teams to deliver outstanding service.

You will thrive in a fast-paced environment, demonstrate strong leadership skills, and have a passion for helping communities become more active, healthier, and connected.

The opening of the Captain Matthew Webb Sports & Leisure Centre in Summer 2027 represents one of the most significant investments in leisure facilities within the borough. These positions offer a rare opportunity to establish yourself within the management team today and play a direct role in the successful launch and operation of this exciting new facility.

Requirements:

  • Good interpersonal and customer communication skills
  • Relevant supervisory experience in a Leisure and Customer Services environment
  • Experience of supervising and training staff in operational procedures
  • Experience of Health & Safety monitoring and reporting procedures

  • A National Pool Lifeguard Qualification (or ability to achieve within 6 months)
  • Pool plant operators’ certificate (or ability to achieve in 6 months)
  • A Level 2 Health & Fitness Certificate (or ability to achieve within 6 months)
