Duty Manager

Location: The Leys Leisure Centre, Oxford, OX4 6JL

Salary: £15.06 per hour plus excellent benefits

Schedule: Part time, 20 hours per week

As a Duty Manager, you'll play an important role in ensuring the leisure centre operates safely, efficiently, and to a high standard every day. Supporting colleagues, customers, and operational performance, you'll help create positive experiences that encourage people to stay active, healthy, and connected. Your work has purpose, delivering a positive impact on communities while creating opportunities for growth and helping to impact a better future.


What You’ll Do as a Duty Manager

  • Manage the day-to-day operation of the leisure centre, ensuring safe opening and closing procedures are followed at all times
  • Lead, deploy, and support operational teams to deliver high-quality services across the facility
  • Maintain a visible presence on site, responding professionally to customer feedback, enquiries, and incidents
  • Take control during emergencies, accidents, or operational issues, acting calmly and decisively
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety legislation, site operating plans, and Serco Management System procedures
  • Support colleague development, engagement, and performance, including training and operational guidance

Does This Sound Like You?

  • Knowledge of, or an interest in, the leisure industry or a related operational environment
  • Experience in a leisure, fitness, or customer-facing setting would be advantageous
  • Strong awareness of health and safety and the ability to apply procedures effectively
  • Excellent communication and customer care skills, with the ability to remain calm under pressure
  • Good organizational skills and the confidence to prioritize tasks and make decisions
  • A positive approach to leadership, with pride in delivering excellent service and creating impactful solutions
