Background
The Sport and Wellness Service delivers opportunities for students, staff and the local community to be active, social and competitive through sport and physical activity. Based at CitySport, the Duty Manager (Support) plays a key role in supervising daily operations, supporting customer engagement, maintaining high standards of health and safety, and contributing to the delivery of sport, fitness and wellbeing programmes that enhance the student experience and promote healthy lifestyles across the University.

Responsibilities
The Duty Manager (Support) will oversee the day-to-day operation of CitySport, supervising operational staff and ensuring excellent customer service. The role includes facility opening and closing, health and safety compliance, administration of the Leisure Management System, processing bookings and payments, supporting events and programmes, managing equipment setup, responding to customer enquiries, monitoring operational standards, and contributing to membership growth, reporting, and community engagement activities.
Person Specification
The successful candidate will have experience in customer-facing environments, team supervision, and health and safety procedures within a sport, leisure, fitness or related setting. They will possess excellent communication and organisational skills, the ability to manage competing priorities, and experience using booking or management systems. A First Aid at Work qualification is required, alongside a passion for delivering outstanding customer experiences and promoting active, healthy lifestyles.

The selection process will involve an interview and a presentation or test related to leisure system management, customer service, operational decision-making and/or facility management. Further details will be confirmed at the interview stage. This role is shift-based and requires flexibility to work early mornings, evenings and weekends on a rolling rota. The normal working hours are 35 hours per week on average, calculated across the rota period.
