The National Badminton Centre (NBC)
The National Badminton Centre (NBC) is an accredited Elite Training Centre and the home of badminton in England, where talented athletes are developed to compete for England and Great Britain on the world stage. But the NBC is much more than an elite sports facility. Alongside world-class badminton courts, we offer public and professional gym facilities, fitness suites, a spin studio, meeting rooms, a popular 25-room hotel, a sports bar, restaurant, and the National Badminton Museum, all open to the public. Term: Permanent, full-time (37.5 h/ week)
Salary: £27,000 per annum

The Duty Manager/Fitness Instructor is responsible for creating a safe, welcoming and positive environment for all visitors to the NBC, from Olympic athletes and Badminton England staff to hotel guests, health club members and other visitors. The role requires flexibility to work early morning, evening and weekend shifts, combining operational responsibility for the centre with the delivery of high-quality fitness services and member support.
The successful candidate will be customer-focused, proactive and adaptable, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team. Key responsibilities include overseeing the safe day-to-day operation of the facility, maintaining health and safety standards, completing compliance checks and records, and responding to customer needs across the site.
The role also includes monitoring the gym, supporting members with their health and fitness goals, carrying out inductions and promoting a positive fitness environment. For suitably qualified candidates, there is also the opportunity to build and deliver freelance Personal Training sessions. The successful candidate will play an important role in enhancing the member experience while ensuring the smooth and safe operation of the National Badminton Centre.
