Job Description
Single Homeless Project has a new opportunity for a Duty Worker to join and work in our team based in Camden, London. You will join us on a full-time, permanent basis, and in return, you will receive a competitive salary starting at £34,127.11 and rising incrementally to £36,947.49 per annum.
We’re London’s leading homelessness charity - and we get things done.
In a city where hundreds are forced into homelessness every day, our work has never been more needed or more challenging. And we’re not shying away. We’re rolling up our sleeves to make change and helping over 10,000 Londoners every year. We prevent homelessness, provide safe places to live and give people the opportunity to rebuild their lives and transform their futures. And we never give up.
We’re here for Londoners wherever they are on their journey. We start with trust, building relationships that help people feel safe, supported, and ready to move forward. Every day, we put people first in everything we do, challenging injustice and barriers that keep people from the safety, stability and opportunity they deserve. We stand alongside people as they rebuild and shape a future that feels their own.
Joining Single Homeless Project means joining a team that’s bold, compassionate and determined to do better for the people we support and for each other. You’ll work alongside colleagues with lived experience, in a space that’s trans-inclusive, disability-friendly, and actively striving to be anti-oppressive and equitable.
We’re not perfect, but we’re real. We listen. We learn. And we push forward, together. Because this isn’t just a job. It’s a chance to lead with empathy, spark change, and help build a London where no one is left behind.
About The Duty Worker Role
For someone sleeping rough, walking into a service and knowing there is someone who will listen, understand what they need and help them find the right support can make a huge difference. As a Duty Worker in our Camden Rough Sleeping Outreach Hub, you’ll be one of the people helping to make that happen — creating a welcoming, calm and well-organised space where clients can access support and partner agencies can work together effectively.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

You’ll be a key point of contact within the Hub, responding to enquiries, helping clients navigate the support available and connecting them with the right colleagues or partner agencies. You’ll also play an important role in recognising when someone may need more urgent support, identifying safeguarding or welfare concerns and making sure these are escalated appropriately.
Behind the scenes, you’ll help keep the Hub running smoothly by coordinating appointments, partner attendance, calendars, communications and day-to-day administration. You’ll work closely with our outreach teams, Referral Coordinator and external agencies, helping information move quickly and accurately so that clients experience a joined-up service rather than having to navigate different systems alone.
This is a Monday to Friday role, working 8am-4pm, offering a consistent daytime working pattern within a busy and collaborative service. You’ll also have access to Single Homeless Project's (SHP) learning and development opportunities, with support to build your knowledge of homelessness services and develop your career across the organisation.
